Film Fridays // 35mm

film fridays: a personal project where I put down my digital camera and share images created on film

It’s true. Medium Format has a death grip on my heart. The larger negative just garners more detail and better image quality. I love it! Plus, all the cool kids shoot with a 645 camera so it must be the best.;) I was surprised to find out at Tanja Lippert’s workshop, that she shoots with both medium format and 35mm cameras at a wedding. For 35mm she uses the Nikon F100, which a buddy of mine just happens to own. I asked him if I could borrow it and have really enjoyed shooting with this camera! I was pleasantly surprised to learn that 35mm doesn’t suck.

Today’s Film Friday is brought to you by Squaresville Studios!  Maria, the talent behind SS, and I met at Tanja Lippert’s workshop in October and discovered we shared the same great city. I asked her if she could take some head-shots for me on film and WOW was I blown away. I hardly recognized myself! She is one talented lady and incredibly sweet to boot! Thank you Maria for making me feel like a model for a day!

Film Fridays // Thanksgiving

film fridays: a personal project where I put down my digital camera and share images created on film

Oh, hello Film Friday! Nice to see you. I hope everyone is having an excellent New Year!

Here are few shots from Thanksgiving processed and scanned by Indie Film Lab. This was my first time using Indie and it took a loooong time to get these scans back. I gotta tell ya’ one song kept popping in my head…”the waaaaaiting is the harrrrrdest….paaaart“. Patience has never been my strong suit but oh! how I am diggin’ these yummy colors. Perhaps a teensy bit too saturated but I think it works here with the fall colors. I just sent a second batch in so we shall see if this lab is a good fit!

Film Friday // Will

film fridays: a personal project where I put down my digital camera and share images created on film

This is the Steele Family whom I have photographed several times over the years. I learned this week that Will lost his battle with cancer on Christmas Eve. I feel so blessed to have met this incredible family. Back in October I spent the day with them at their home and thought I would share a few of those photos. My thoughts and prayers go out to this beautiful family.
