back in a jiffy…

Hello friends! I am in the process of moving and will be out of touch for a few weeks. (literally and figuratively) haha. I will still have email on my phone but my computer will be in storage for at least a week while we get settled, so I will not be able to place any orders.

Please cross your fingers, send good vibes and your prayers our way that this all goes smoothly. We are currently homeless until we close on a new house. yipe! Oh and check out my little moving helpers…now that the bed frame is gone our bed can be reached by the shortest of legs and quickly became the new jungle gym.

Amy & Ayah – Grapevine,Tx

I met Amy & her gorgeous daughter, Ayah, in downtown Grapevine last week. Wow, what a blast! And what a cute town Grapevine is. I definitely want to shoot there again. Miss Ayah was a little shy at first but as you can see she quickly warmed up to show her true spunky redhead personality. And speaking of redhead…have you ever seen such a gorgeous head of deep red hair in your life? WITH perfectly sunkissed highlights most women would kill for!  Lucky!

When Amy contacted me she said her daughter was OBSESSED with Alice in Wonderland and even has a dress that looks like Alice’s dress and would I mind if we take some pictures of her in it… What!? Mind!? Are you kidding!? This is a kid after my own heart I tell ya! I showed Amy my daughter’s alice room and we knew we were a match made in heaven. lol. (btw the alice room has now been repainted *sniff*) So after some ice cream we hit the botanical gardens for a little “Alice” fun. This was so much fun and I can’t WAIT to do something like this with Chloe.

Keller Wedding – Jamie + Kyle

Jamie & Kyle’s wedding took place on her family’s horse farm in Keller, TX. The day was incredible…perfect clear sky weather; amazing details; and a couple completely crazy about each other. I’m absolutely thrilled and honored to have documented their union.

this one below is my absolute favorite…as they finished walking down the aisle as newly husband & wife, they turned and embraced each other like this…completely oblivious to anyone else but each other at that very moment. Gives me chills at the raw emotion I was able to freeze in time.

Melisa + Mike

Have you ever had a really awesome friend and the guy you’re dating has a really awesome friend too…and you think maybe these two awesome friends should meet? So goes this lovely couple’s story…

To start, Melisa is my girl. A bestie. My “3am friend”. You know, that friend you can call at 3am to come bail you out of jail. (not that it’s happened, just sayin) She’s someone I have always been able to turn to, who was there during my highs and lows, who partied like a rock star with me but also sat on my couch to watch movies and girl talk. Never once wavering from true friendship. She is a gem. And Mike…Mike, Mike, Mike. The first time I met him Sean warned me “watch out, he’s a handful” Lol I will never forget that. So true.  Sean and Mike have been friends since they were teenagers and had a lot of “good times” together. Lets just say Asa won’t be hearing about any of their GT’s.

So back to these two awesome friends meeting.. oh about 7-8 years ago…if memory serves they couldn’t stand each other. So much for that idea. But love waited patiently for the right time. Once destiny plotted its course, the stars were aligned just right and a little help from social media these two lovebirds I call friends fell in love. It was hard and fast and even took me by surprise after all these years. Which now brings us to the wedding…the Vegas wedding! which has me both happy and sad. Happy because my friend is in love and marrying her perfect match, sad because I cannot go to the wedding and had to turn down a Maid of Honor position. *sniff* Vegas is just out of my reach at the moment. Regardless, I took some incredible engagement photos for them. I am so happy for these two and can’t wait to hear about the throw down in a few weeks. Love you guys!

The Dude

…is 5.  Can’t believe it. It’s hard to even say. Asa is 5. I have a 5 year old child. Na, na, no that can’t possibly be right.  But it is. In May 2005 I brought home the most beautiful little red, crying, squirmy creature I had ever laid eyes on. And he was mine and I was totally freaked that I was his mama. And WE were responsible for this child’s upbringing. What a terrfying thought. What if we do something wrong or make a mistake? I remember thinking “who okay’d this? Shouldn’t I have taken a test or something?”  Mistakes were definitely made along the way (and still are) but that’s life right? Every day is a learning experience for both parties when you’re the first.

Here are just a few photos from his official 5 year session. I did these in honor of him starting Kindergarten in the Fall. Aren’t they cute? Will share more later. We are very proud of this boy and can’t wait to see how he continues to amaze us in big kid school. Love you big boy.

Kelly M. - Aw, Jenny... the biggest mistake you make is doubting yourself. To Asa, you are the perfect mom, because you are his and you love him. Congrats on making it the first 5 years... and Happy Birthday to Asa!

Sarah Ryland - Wow ..... what a HANDSOME dude!! It has been a blessing to watch him grow up via your website. Thanks for sharing and thanks Asa for all the posing your mom makes you do. Jenny, as parents all we can do is to do what we think is the best in the moment. We all make mistakes and yet our kids somehow survive and thrive into adulthood. Who'da thunk it!!

Jenny - Thank you for the sweet words!

bridals and bridles

What an amazing session and bride-to-be Jamie was. She was truly one of the most adventurous girls I’ve met in a long time, complete with a heart the size of Texas. And just look at that gorgeous natural red hair. *swoon* When Jamie contacted me about incorporating her animals in her bridal portraits I knew she was a girl after my own heart. I love photographing animals with their adoring humans. Being an animal lover myself I know what important members of the family they are. Animals make you work for it but the end result is definitely worth it! I had so much fun guys and can’t wait for the wedding!

Jamie, the Bride - Jenny- Thank you so much for posting these! I am flabergasted at how awesome they are. I knew you were great, but I can't believe how much they express my and my animal's personality. Thank you for a wonderful bridal portrait session! Can't wait to work with you at the wedding! jamie

Kelly mother of the bride - I told you it is hard to take a bad picture of Jamie but even I am surprised at how magical the pictures are. They need to be in a national publication to show other brides what wonderful alternatives there are to "stand there and smile". Truly wonderful! Can't wait to see what creative things you do at the big event! kelly

Jenny - Jamie and Kelly, thank you! Your approval means so much. Thanks for trusting me :)

chicago baby

There is no better time in Chicago than right now. With warm days and cool nights you get to truly appreciate the spring season. My favorite kind of weather! And unfortunately here in Dallas we have about 2 days of spring weather…it goes straight from cold to HOT.

I went to Chicago to photograph this beautiful child born to my equally amazing and beautiful friends, Carla and Ryan. It seems impossible that I was just standing in their wedding and now photographing their first child. Time certainly does zoom by. They are natural parents and I know feel so blessed to have their sweet Emma. This little family has fallen into place like perfect puzzle pieces and I’m honored to have photographed the beginning of their journey into parenthood. Guys, hold this baby every chance you get, spoil her rotten! Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. You’ll be chasing after her before you know it.

Sarah Ryland - So so precious! Beautiful!

Carla - We were honored that Jenny took time out of her busy schedule to come to Chicago to do these amazing photos. We wanted something special and Jenny just got such beautiful pictures. She has such an amazing eye and really captured Emma's personality.

mother

Well, my Mother’s Day mini shoots are coming to a close. I had hoped to photograph more mama’s and their babes but as I am in the midst of “selling my house” mayhem I’m thinking it may have been a blessing in disguise. (and the house is almost sold…fingers crossed!) However I lacked in quantity, I certainly did NOT lack in quality. These are some of my favorite mother/child photos yet! I’m thinking next year I may do something similar but at a Women’s Shelter. I would love to hear from anyone who has done something like that before as I am not sure where to start. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day everyone and tell the kiddos NO WHINING on Mother’s Day! ha!

Mother’s Day “mini” Sessions

Mother’s Day is right around the corner (May 9) and you know what that means? Time to celebrate MOM!

In honor of Mother’s Day I am offering Mother & Child mini sessions until May 9. What better way to honor Mom than with photos of her WITH her children. Honestly, I can’t think of one Mom who wouldn’t love this. I have expressed in the past how important I feel it is for children to have photos with their mother. I don’t offer many specials but this is something very near and dear to me and I feel compelled to do it again this year. There is an undeniable bond between a mother and her children that is so raw and untouchable. The connection photographs so beautifully.

Plain Graph Paper

The Mini Session fee is $75, which you will receive 30 minutes of photography time, an online gallery with 5-10 images to choose from, digital processing in both black/white and color and a complimentary 8×10. (additional prints purchased separately) And for the single mother, whom I hold a very special place in my heart for, your session fee is free!

Gift certificates are also available if you wish to surpise someone for Mother’s Day. Their session can then be scheduled for a later time. For more details, please email me at jenny@jennymccann.com I look forward to hearing from you!

Spring

Can I get an “Amen” for Spring weather!? Whew, finally! And just in time for Easter. It was an awesome weekend. The kids had a blast and ate way too much candy. I also took them out for some springy pictures over the weekend. It was a …. challange, to say the least. ha! They know what mama is up to when she gets the camera out. And that is their cue to run in the opposite direction…or pout ….or fall to the ground and have a good ol’ fashioned tantrum. etc. Gotta be quick with these two!
