So I got this crazy idea to make a family album of 2009 with this new book company I’m working with. 2009 was a big year for us as we adjusted to becoming a family of four and I can’t tell you how many hundreds, probably thousands, of photos I took. Literally every weekend I forced asked my family to take photos. So making an album of that year seemed logical, plus I was able to get a sample of the lab’s work at the same time. Boy, was I in for a surprise on how much work this was! I’ve never taken on a project this big before. The selection process was hands down THE hardest part of making the book. How do I pick my favorite photos of my kids? I love them all! I would walk away from the project for weeks at a time and then try to come back fresh. It was that hard! The book ended up being 35 pages (70 sides) and still so many got left behind. It was a labor of love though. Once I had this baby in my hands I knew all my “anguish” was worth it! I mean just look at it…this is one beautiful book!
One thing I should probably mention is I’m not certain if I’ll be replacing my current album with this one as it’s pretty pricey. Plus there are several other labs I’m hoping to get a sample of as well. I’m currently “window shopping” for books.
Dallas had a record 12.5 inches of snow in a 24-hour period last week. It was amazing!! Aside from skiing once in Colorado I have NEVER seen this much snow. Asa had a blast and had to be literally dragged back in to warm up. Chloe, eh…not so much. She tried, I’ll give her that. But it was hard to walk in the snow and tears were usually the end result. Plus that big brother and those darn snow balls! He was relentless! lol
Looking at the photos below, it almost feels like I took these somewhere else. Like maybe Colorado or New Hampshire or something. Certainly not Texas! I’ll just pretend I went on a magical winter wonderland trip, where there was no work and I frolicked with my children for days on end in this magic white fluff. And now I am back and completely refreshed ready to share my vacation photos. Hey, one can dream!
Claudia Leger - I hate to be the one to say 'told you so' but SISTER I TOLD YOU SO...Those photos are mindblowing. I am sooo proud of you!!! Meredith and Patrick are having quite the trip down memory land...again!
Today I took Asa to see Avatar… just the two of us. It was awesome! (both the movie AND our quality time) No baby sister to try to talk over or share attention with. He was so excited and had a little hop in his step as he held my hand into the theater. He also held my hand as we watched the movie. It was sweet. Asa will be 5 this May and I know my days are numbered with the hand holding business. Gosh I will miss that when it’s gone! Watching him grow up so fast scares the crap out of me, to put it bluntly. With every passing day he is becoming more and more independant and I just wish things could slow down. Unfortunately with this new found independance has come defiance. Lots and lots of defiance. Never ending defiance. Pull-your-hair-out defiance. Why-am-I-debating-with-a-4-year-old defiance. Ok you get the idea. He is a free spirit and rules be DAMNED he will do what he wants! Is it possible to be anti-establishment at the ripe ol’ age of 4? If not, I think we might have our first case here. lol. And much to his parents dismay, most days do consist of arguments, tantrums and timeouts. As any mother, I do worry about this. Are we doing the right things? Will this phase EVER pass? Do I need to call Super Nanny on his ass? Will he be a good boy when he grows up? Will he use his powers for good not evil? Will he still love his mother? These questions swirl in my brain constantly. Things have been tough with him, I’m not gonna lie. But today was good. Awesome in fact. It brought to light how much I adore this child. And really miss him. As much as I wish, children do not come with manuals. We do our best, take the good days with the bad, and hope and pray everything turns out right.
Kathy Boudreaux - What a sweet and angelic little face...my lovey dovey boy.
He's just in a bad mood because he hasn't had any of Big Mom's gumbo for a while.
I photographed a lovely friend and her lovely bump last weekend. It’s so fun when your friends have babies. You get to relive some of that same excitement and anticipation from your own experience. What will she look like? How much will she weigh? When will she decide to come!? The day you deliver is amazing and scary and glorious and forever etched in your mind! I’m so happy for Erin & Payton! Just a few more weeks to go! I can’t wait! You guys will be AWESOME parents!
Tidbit: Erin is a yoga instructor!
Gorgeous!!!
You would never know it, but those last three shots she was freezing her butt off!! What a trooper! Enjoy your sneak peek Erin. Many more to come! Thanks for a great shoot!
Hey Ya! Guess what I got? A Facebook Fan Page!! I know, I know a little presumptuous eh? ha! Well, I AM my only fan right now. Please help me feel less of a dork by stopping by and BECOME A FAN! I would really love it!
Oh also, I added a little widget thingy at the end of every post. So if you see a post that tickles your fancy just click it and automagically share it to your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc… the list goes on!
I always enjoy looking at other photographers product shots so just thought I would show off these little brag books I made for Meredith & Patrick They came out so cute!
And a special THANKS to The Future Mrs Darcy for allowing me to use her design from Meredith & Patrick’s wedding invitation for the book cover.
1. Enjoy my children more. They only have one childhood, I need to make it count.
2. Keep the house clean! (close to impossible though)
3. Improve my lighting skills.
What will 2010 bring this family? I’m anxious and hopeful for a positive year because it’s going to get interesting. Lots of life changes on the horizon.
This should be sung in your best Chris Farley. lol. Chloe got her first pair of skinny jeans….and she could barely walk in them they were so tight! Dang she’s cute, huh!?
I had to go find this. Sorry I couldn’t resist. I really miss this guy! One of my favorite comedians ever! rip
